Anton E. Bowden, PhD

Dr. Anton E. Bowden is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Brigham Young University. He directs the BYU Applied Biomechanics Engineering Laboratory. He is a licensed professional engineer, a recipient of a National Science Foundation CAREER Award, serves as a Fellow for the BYU Sorensen Center for Moral and Ethical Leadership, and was awarded the BYU Weidman Professorship in Leadership.  He is an inventor on 19 issued patents in the medical device space; eight startup companies have launched based on these technologies.  He volunteers with NCEES and currently serves as vice-chair of the Mechanical Engineering Professional Licensure Exams Committee.  He has served in various leadership positions with the Orthopedic Research Society, including his current service as an ORS Regional Ambassador and member of the ORS Ethics Committee. Dr. Bowden received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Utah State University and his PhD in Bioengineering from the University of Utah.
